Ethiopian Airlines Denies Rumours of Supplying Aircraft to Russian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines has vehemently denied circulating rumors on social media, alleging that the airline plans to supply aircraft to Russian airlines on wet-lease agreements and provide them with aircraft spare parts.

In a statement released earlier today, the airline firmly refuted the claims, stating, “We would like to inform all concerned that Ethiopian Airlines has never been requested or discussed on this topic with any party. Moreover, it does not have any plan or intention to do so. Hence, the news is unfounded.

The airline further reassured its customers, partners, and stakeholders, emphasizing its commitment to adhering to international laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. “We would also like to assure our customers, partners, and stakeholders that Ethiopian Airlines conducts its operation in full compliance with applicable international laws, regulations, and contractual obligations,” the statement read. The denial comes as sanctions imposed on Russia continue to impact its aviation industry, raising concerns about the availability of aircraft and parts.

Ethiopian Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance, is one of Africa’s largest and most reputable airlines, with a long-standing history of safe and reliable operations. This statement aims to clarify the airline’s position and dispel any misinformation surrounding its involvement with Russian airlines.
